Unexpected benefits of peppermint tea revealed

Islamabad:A recent British study has revealed that drinking peppermint tea can significantly enhance brain health and cognitive function.
According to the Nutritional Neuroscience journal, British scientists conducted research to examine the effects of peppermint on health. The study involved 25 volunteers and found that consuming approximately 200 ml of peppermint infusion improved brain activity, memory, attention, and overall cognitive performance.
Researchers divided the volunteers into two groups: one group was not given peppermint tea, while the other was provided with a glass of the beverage. Twenty minutes after consumption, both groups undertook a series of cognitive and memory-based tests. The results showed that participants who drank the tea performed better, especially in tasks involving word and image recall.
Scientists also observed an increase in blood flow to the brain’s frontal cortex — the area responsible for executive functions — in those who consumed the peppermint tea. This enhanced blood flow is believed to contribute to improved cognitive performance.
