Punjab Approves Rs26.77 Billion for Health Sector Development Projects

Islamabad: The Punjab government has approved a substantial funding package worth Rs26.77 billion to support a series of development projects aimed at strengthening the province’s healthcare system.
The decision was made during the 7th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), which was chaired by key officials including Planning & Development (P&D) Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, P&D Board members, and representatives from relevant departments.
Among the major allocations, Rs7.70 billion has been set aside for the procurement of advanced medical equipment for the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology. Another Rs3.83 billion has been earmarked for similar equipment at the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha.
Furthermore, Rs6.84 billion has been allocated for the renovation and upgradation of hospitals under the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department. In addition, Rs8.39 billion will go towards the construction and rehabilitation of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Hafizabad.
These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving public healthcare infrastructure and ensuring better medical services across Punjab.
