Govt to operationalize biometric verification service for pensioners

Islamabad: The Federal government has decided to operationalize the biometric verification service for federal government pensioners.

A handout issued by the Finance Division states that the Finance division through section 42 of the Public Finance management act, 2019, had mandatory biometric verification of government pensioners on NADRA from any branch of bank maintaining his pension account, every bank in the month of March and October.

The verification service was held in abeyance vide Finance division Office Memorandum of even number dated May 6, 2021, due to COVID-19.

Given that normal working has been restored, therefore, it has been decided to operationalize the biometric verification service for federal government pensioners with immediate effect who were issued pensions from AGPR Islamabad. Whereas, the finance division shall issue the instructions separately for the military pensioners, and those who were issued pension from AGPR sub-offices and district account offices.
