Islamabad: Pakistan is rapidly gaining recognition as a major player in the global digital economy, securing the 16th position worldwide among top outsourcing destinations, according to newly released data by the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MOITT).
The report highlights Pakistan’s growing influence under the “Tech Destination Pakistan” initiative, presenting the country as an emerging “Digital Nation.” With this progress, Pakistan now stands among the top 8.3% of outsourcing markets globally, outperforming 177 countries.
Key Drivers of Growth
The country’s rise is supported by a combination of strong technical expertise, competitive costs, and a thriving freelance sector.
Pakistan has achieved a Talent Score of 80 out of 100, placing it among the global leaders in technical capability and ranking 8th worldwide for skilled talent. At the same time, a Labor Cost Score of 97 out of 100 reflects its significant cost advantage, enabling businesses to access high-quality services at lower prices compared to other major economies.
In addition, Pakistan continues to strengthen its position as a global freelance powerhouse, with a large workforce contributing to fields such as software development, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.
Future Outlook
Officials believe the country’s growth trajectory will continue, with projections indicating Pakistan could soon rank among the top 11 outsourcing destinations globally.
Experts attribute this upward trend to increasing specialization in advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and software development. As global demand for digital services rises, Pakistan is positioning itself as a preferred destination for international companies seeking scalable and cost-effective solutions.
