Ishaq Dar leaves for China to attend global AI summit

Islamabad:Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar departed for China on Thursday on a two-day official visit to attend the inaugural ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) in Shanghai.

During the visit, Pakistan will sign the agreement establishing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) as a founding member, with Dar signing the document on behalf of the country.

The deputy prime minister will also participate in the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance on July 17, where he is expected to present Pakistan’s perspective on strengthening international cooperation in artificial intelligence.

On the sidelines of the conference, Dar is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The Foreign Office said the visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to promoting global cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies while further strengthening its strategic partnership with China.

Dar is also expected to meet leaders and senior officials from participating countries to discuss collaboration in artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
