Pakistan Launches ‘Fish Radar’ Platform to Detect and Report Phishing Websites

Muhammad Naeem:

Islamabad: Pakistan has introduced a new national platform, Fish Radar, to help people identify, verify and report phishing websites and suspicious online links, as part of efforts to curb cybercrime and enhance digital security.

The platform has been launched by National CERT in collaboration with a local cybersecurity company to counter the growing number of phishing attacks and online scams targeting internet users across the country.

Verify suspicious websites and links

According to National CERT, Fish Radar enables users to instantly check whether a website or link is safe before opening it. The platform also allows citizens to report fake websites, phishing pages and malicious links so they can be investigated and blocked promptly.

Understanding phishing attacks

National CERT explained that phishing is a cybercrime in which attackers impersonate legitimate organizations or services to steal sensitive information, including banking credentials, passwords and personal data.

Cybercriminals commonly use fraudulent websites, deceptive emails, SMS messages and fake links to trick users into revealing confidential information.

The agency warned that phishing attempts targeting individuals and financial accounts are on the rise and urged the public to verify suspicious links and report them through Fish Radar to help prevent online fraud.

Strengthening Pakistan’s cyber defence

National CERT said the new platform will improve the country’s cyber threat intelligence by collecting reports of phishing campaigns in real time. It is expected to support faster action against cybercriminals while strengthening Pakistan’s overall cybersecurity framework.
