Power Bills Set to Rise as Nepra Approves Rs2.58 Per Unit Increase

Islamabad:Electricity consumers are set to face higher power bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a Rs2.06 per unit monthly increase along with a Rs0.52 per unit quarterly adjustment.
The monthly hike was approved under the fuel price adjustment for July and will be applicable to consumers across the country, including K-Electric customers.
Monthly adjustment to add Rs33bn burden on consumers
The Nepra has issued a notification for the monthly increase, which will be reflected in electricity bills issued in September. The monthly adjustment will place an additional burden of Rs33 billion on consumers.
The Nepra has also approved a 52-paisa-per-unit increase under the quarterly adjustment for April to June 2026. The authority has sent its decision to the government.
The quarterly adjustment will apply from September to November 2026 and will also cover K-Electric consumers. It will place an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers.
Together, the monthly and quarterly adjustments will raise electricity prices by Rs2.58 per unit.
