Islamabad: Pakistan is considering a major initiative to boost its tourism sector by transforming Astola Island into a premium tourist destination, modeled on island resorts like those in Maldives.

According to details, the proposed plan includes the development of modern resorts, tourist facilities, and essential infrastructure on the island to attract both domestic and international visitors. Located off the coast of Balochistan, Astola Island is already known for its natural beauty, rich marine life, and unpolluted environment, giving it a unique appeal.

Officials believe the project could prove to be a game changer for Pakistan’s tourism industry, boosting the economy and creating new employment opportunities at the local level. It could also position Pakistan as an emerging hub for island tourism in South Asia.

However, experts have stressed that maintaining environmental balance will be critical for the success of the project. They emphasize the need for sustainable planning, protection of marine ecosystems, and strict adherence to responsible tourism practices.

If executed effectively, Astola Island could become a leading example of eco-friendly development and tourism growth in Pakistan.
