Punjab ready to tackle urban flooding threat: CM Maryam

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said on Thursday that there is a risk of heatwave and urban flooding, adding that the government is ready to deal with any flood situation.
Potohar region faces risk of cloudbursts
Speaking at a meeting on the flood and monsoon preparedness, CM Maryam has said that the province is likely to face severe heat and heavy rainfall in the coming days. CM Maryam said the Punjab government had spent a substantial amount on improving the drainage system.
She said above-average rainfall is expected in some cities, while the Pothohar region faces the risk of cloudbursts and urban flooding.
CM Maryam added that Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar are among the districts most at risk from heatwave conditions.
CM Maryam says Punjab learnt lessons from previous floods
CM Maryam said she did not want a single life to be lost because of negligence. Without naming any province, she said rainwater remains standing for long periods in some areas after heavy rainfall. She said Punjab had learned lessons from the previous floods.
