PKCERT warns of cyber attacks on critical digital infrastructure

Islamabad: The Pakistan’s National Computer Emergency Response Team (PKCERT) has issued an alert over the risk of cyber attacks on critical digital infrastructure.
All relevant institutions have been directed to set up special cyber security control rooms and remain on alert from September 5 to 7. The National CERT has ordered round-the-clock monitoring of important networks, government systems and websites during the period.
Institutions have also been told to keep their designated cyber security focal persons on duty at all times, update operating systems and immediately shut down unnecessary ports and services.
Critical databases must be removed from public IP addresses, while firewalls and anti-DDoS systems are to remain active. Disaster recovery sites must also be kept ready for immediate use.
Institutions have been directed to share information with National CERT and the National Security Operations Centre in the event of any suspected cyber incident.
The authorities have stressed strict compliance with the security measures to protect the country’s digital infrastructure.
