Islamabad:Millions of pilgrims gathered at the plain of Mount Arafat to perform Wukuf-e-Arafat, the central pillar of Hajj, in deeply spiritual scenes filled with prayers, devotion and remembrance of Allah.
The emotional scenes echoed with the call: “Labaik Allahumma Labaik, Labaik La Shareeka Laka Labaik.”
The Hajj sermon was delivered by Dr Sheikh Abdur-Rahman al-Huthaify, Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque. He said piety is the glory of believers and urged Muslims to follow the commands of Allah.
“O believers, fear Allah and practice piety,” he said.
Monotheism and covenant with Allah
In the sermon, Dr Al-Huthaify called on believers to fulfill their covenant and not associate anyone with Allah. He said no one should be worshipped except the Lord and that implementing monotheism is a defining quality of believers.
He also said that when the verses of Allah are presented to true believers, their hearts soften.
The sermon reminded Muslims that the scene of the Day of Judgment will be terrifying.
Dr Al-Huthaify said every moment will stop on the Day of Judgment and Muslims should prepare themselves for accountability before Allah. He urged believers to strengthen their relationship with Allah, calling it a means of salvation.
The Hajj sermon reaffirmed that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets.
Dr Al-Huthaify urged Muslims to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in all aspects of life.
Call for patience in hardship
The sermon emphasized that Muslims should not abandon patience during difficulties. Dr Al-Huthaify said Allah has promised a great reward for those who remain patient.
He also reminded Muslims to be grateful for Allah’s blessings and to use them in the right way.
