Petrol, diesel prices reduced by Rs22 per litre in Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday announced a major cut in petroleum prices, reducing the rates of petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs22 per litre.
Following the latest revision, the price of petrol has been set at Rs392.78 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now cost Rs392.58 per litre.
The announcement was made on the third day of Eid-ul-Azha, described as a relief for the public. The government stated that the decision has been taken to provide relief to citizens under difficult economic conditions.
It said that reductions were also made in the previous week in petroleum prices.
The statement added that subsidies have been provided to users of public transport, goods transport, motorcyclists and rickshaw drivers.
The prime minister was quoted as saying that providing relief to the public remains a top priority of the government.
