Brilliant introduces AI tutor focused on critical thinking

Tos:

Islamabad: Educational platform Brilliant has introduced a new artificial intelligence tutor designed to move children away from rote learning towards thinking, questioning, and problem-solving.

Brilliant founder Sue Khim unveiled what is described as the world’s first AI graphical tutor, stating that the technology has been developed to build children’s intellectual ability.

She noted on the social media platform X that artificial intelligence is weakening children, whereas it should be making them more intelligent. She further stated that this is the first AI tutor intended to compel children to think for themselves.

The tutor is based on the Socratic method of teaching, in which learners are guided through questions rather than given direct answers, enabling them to understand problems and reach solutions independently.

This approach is said to promote critical thinking, analytical skills and problem-solving ability, while reducing reliance on conventional AI systems that provide direct answers.
