Iran delays response to new US proposals, consultations continue

Tos:

Islamabad: Iran has not yet responded to the latest proposals from the United States, with consultations still underway to finalize a draft response, according to Iranian media reports.

The development comes as Tehran weighs its next steps amid ongoing diplomatic engagement with Washington, while emphasizing the need for concrete gains from any future agreement.

According to reports carried by Iran’s Mehr News Agency, the Iranian government has not yet sent any official response to the United States regarding the new proposals currently under discussion.

The report said consultations are continuing within Iran to finalize the draft and determine the country’s position before a formal reply is issued.

The ongoing deliberations suggest that Tehran is taking a cautious approach as negotiations move forward.

Tehran seeking ‘real benefits’

Iranian media reported that Tehran is attempting to secure tangible and meaningful benefits before committing to any new understanding with Washington.

According to the report, Iran’s position is heavily influenced by previous experiences in dealings with the United States, prompting officials to carefully evaluate the latest proposals.

The report emphasized that Iran wants assurances that any future arrangement will deliver practical outcomes rather than promises alone.

Iranian media said Washington’s history of failing to honor commitments has contributed to Tehran’s firm negotiating position. The report stated that previous instances in which the United States allegedly broke promises have forced Iran to adopt a tougher stance during current consultations.

As a result, Iranian officials are seeking stronger guarantees before moving ahead with any agreement.

Iranian media claims US under pressure

Mehr News Agency also claimed that the United States spent significant resources on the conflict but failed to achieve its objectives. The report further alleged that Washington is experiencing anxiety as a result of the war and its outcomes.

“We feel their anxiety,” Iranian media said, arguing that developments on the ground have increased pressure on the United States.

While no official response has yet been delivered to Washington, consultations within Iran remain ongoing as leaders work to finalize their position.
